My name is Tiffany Baira, and I’m originally from New Orleans, Louisiana. For the last five years, I have been living in Manhattan studying and now modeling. Since I was young, I have always played music and loved to sing. At 16, I began playing in jazz clubs (don't ask me how I got in haha), and I’ve now played in most music venues in New York City.
The first thing I do when I wake up is put on some music, which is normally chill morning vibes, like Beach House or classic French jazz. After that, I put on my vintage blue silk robe (one of my favorite hand-me-downs from my mom!) and wash my face with Peter Thomas Roth anti-aging skin gel. I then moisturize and use my Ordinary serum.
My favorite feature about myself would have to be my cheekbones! I never really noticed them until other people started pointing them out, but now I appreciate the unique quality of them.
One of the biggest cultural tips I learned from growing up in New Orleans is to always treat others with kindness. In New Orleans, people from all walks of life come together to form a community that transcends the many differences between the individuals that live there. I have learned that regardless of money, status and prestige, everyone deserves to be seen and celebrated for their personal value. I love hearing about people's journeys and sharing the stories that make them special! Openness and kindness to others is something I always keep with me! My family and I are always chatting everyone's ear off, and I learned to never meet a stranger!
Honestly, I get quite overwhelmed with finding beauty products. It sometimes feels like shopping for beauty brands is like being in the bread section in the grocery store, haha. Thankfully, my friends let me know what works for them; I call them my "Sephora consultants" when we go shopping. I just buy what they recommend. I have found some great recommendations from reading Vogue and other amazing publications! I really think it is just trial and error until you find whats best for you!
My ethnic background is half Algerian and white. Most people always ask me where Algeria even is, but it’s really a beautiful country filled with so much diversity. My favorite part of Algeria is the coastal beaches, and, of course, the amazing gold jewelry made there! I am really proud to be a first generation American because I have learned the importance of hard work, as my father came here with a suitcase and built a beautiful life and family. I have always admired the idea of building something beautiful from the ground up!
I would say my identity inspires my beauty preferences. As a person, I strongly believe in living fluidly and not attaching myself to any one definition or label of my being. I find it important for me to be adaptable and not be defined by any particular component of myself. I feel like the same ideology applies to the beauty standards I set for myself. I can be in a ballgown or Crocs, but what’s important to me is the freedom to style whatever I am wearing, or makeup choices in a way I feel expresses my identity in that moment.
If I could create the perfect wellness product, it would be a health guide for people who don't know how to cook! I struggle to eat healthy while on the run and am constantly looking for the healthiest options I can find while on the run. I would love a golden guide of living in a fast city and finding creative ways to eat healthy without having to pull out pots and pans, because if you’re like me, you burn even water!
